1. Why is it safe to code with Carly?
Carly is the safest and the only legal coding tool for your car because we make a backup with every coding you can load back into your car whenever you want to do so.
2. Why is Carly an option I should choose when I want to perform coding in my car?
Carly is the only solution that has a proactive ECU (electrical control unit) check built into the coding. Every time you code, we check beforehand whether your ECU firmware is “clean”. In rare cases, the ECU has firmware that causes problems after coding. In such cases, we give you an alert that this specific ECU is not allowed for coding. Only with a special code from us, you can code this at your own risk. We don’t recommend this, though.
3. How can I reset the codings I made?
A backup is created before each coding. This backup can be put back into the system. To do so, please follow these steps:
For iOS Apple:
- Start the app
- Connect
- Change to „coding“
- Test compatibility
- Choose the module, which should be reset
- Read coding data
- Click on „back“ (at the end of the page on the left side)
- Click „choose back-up“
- Select the preferred backup. The backups are sorted from old (above) to new (below).
- Click „Load back-up“
- Click „restore“
For Android Google:
- Start the app
- Connect
- Change to „coding“
- Test compatibility
- Choose the module, which should be reset
- Click „Load back-up“ on the right side. If “load back-up” isn’t visible, scroll down to the right side.
- Select the preferred backup. The backups are sorted from old (above) to new (below).
- Click „load back-up“
- Click „restore“
To keep in mind 💡: If the backup fails, please try another backup file of the same module!
4. What can I do if the recovery from my ECU fails?
- Disconnect the car battery and wait 15-20 minutes.
- Reconnect the car battery.
- Perform a diagnosis and delete all errors (If there are any errors left, please follow the next steps anyway).
- Turn off the ignition, lock the car and wait another 15-20 minutes to make sure your car is safely out of diagnostic mode.
- Set the communication speed to 'slow' in the app's settings.
- Activate the expert mode in the app's settings (If available).
- Keep the engine running.
- Reconnect Carly to your car.
- If the app asks you for a scanner update, run it.
- Please try to restore the control unit with the oldest backup while the engine is running.
- It is best to try 2-3 attempts in a row if it does not work the first time.
